At Tombstone, no EDC item is ever left without attention. Out of all the EDC items that I interact with on a daily basis; the pen is the one that gets the most attention. That being said, when you have an item that you interact with so often, why use something cheap and unimaginative. I find that surrounding yourself with what I like to call forever purchases; you start to enjoy the little things. The more mundane tasks in life can be made more enjoyable and worthwhile with a little investment into something unique and high quality. The latest collaboration between Magnus and Urban EDC Supply seems to hit on all of these aspects with laser precision.

This isn't the first collab between these two makers. Earlier this year, we saw the Squashed Toad Fidget Slider which was a fun and unique fidget toy that was based around two independent pieces of luxury material like titanium or zirconium that are drawn together with strong magnets. The maneuvering of these two pieces made for a fun and satisfying fidget action, but beyond the fidget sensation it did not serve any other practical purpose. When you incorporate this fidget functionality with something that actually has an everyday use case like a pen, you get an EDC item that can do two jobs at once. Most are familiar with the way that a clicking pen can somehow steady focus. The created rhythm that comes with the clicking seems to keep the flow of thought going while between thought processes. The pause between paragraphs comes with audible and tactile feel of the clicking pen. The next thought eventually comes and then the ink meets the paper once again.

The ClickShift Pen doesn't have a traditional depressing button for your fidgeting needs. Instead, it has a switch that snaps satisfyingly back and forth in a very gated shifter type of way. The mechanism is quite simple but sometimes the less moving parts the better. The pen itself has a very sleek profile constructed from titanium. This sleek profile also lends to its shocking 0.9oz weight that will disappear into wherever you choose to stash it. The Urban EDC Supply side of the collab comes into the design of the finishing naturally. Adorning the handle, we have the Chaos Seigaiha pattern that Urban has come to be known for. The tight milling of the patterns gives exceptional grip and feel in the hand while writing with this piece (it also looks really cool). If you were looking for a writing utensil with the added capability of also being a fidget toy while also being lightweight while also having a unique design while also being understated while also being a fun collaboration between two prominent EDC makers... look no further.
