QUICK TAKE: SWAMPY EDC MEETS RESIDENT EVIL
One way to get me going is anything with some type of media tie in. Having just seen the new release of the Resident Evil film in theatres, snagging one of these from acclaimed EDC maker Swampy was a no brainer (kind of like a zombie - am I right). I take a lot of pride in being an early adopter and fan of Swampy EDC when they just had a couple hundred followers. It has been a great joy getting to see their growth over the years as well as seeing how their products have improved over time. One thing that I have found unique about their products is actually that there has not really been any big innovations or changes to their product line. It almost seems like they hit the nail right on the head first go and have been using the same platform ever since. That platform being their lineup of magnetic inlay knuckles. Their snappy magnetic Inlays are uniform across all of their lineup to give the user an incredible ability to personalize their EDC. You can also purchase these inlays separately. What has always really stood out for me is their ability to perfectly incapsulate a brands motif when doing these special edition pieces. A couple of my favorites from the past were their Dessert Warrior and Fallout examples. Those are more lighthearted and kid friendly compared to the Resident Evil edition. This one represents the iconic white and red colorway of the Umbrella Corporation found in the game. Their in game logo is what adorns the magnetic inlay of this piece. We also see that it has apparently been recently used to bash in a zombie from the game. The deep red blood splatter looks fantastic with the contrasting cerakote white base color. The blood has a liquid and viscous look that is very satisfying to look at. To go with this motif, I hand painted one of our biohazard beads in a matching red color to take advantage of Swampy's added lanyard holes. Their attention to detail goes beyond the piece itself and continues on into the packaging. The box it comes in is adorned with the Umbrella Corp logo and also comes with a multitude of patches and stickers that show Swampy's ability to go the extra mile.
