PHOTO REPORT: SERGE GUPPY HAWK LOCK

Serge and Gavin Hawk are like a match made in heaven within the knife realm. Their designs seem to coexist quite peacefully together. Serge especially has a more brutalist take on knife making that makes for some really eye-catching designs. Their knives incorporate fins, grates, dark and rough textures that make them look like their best use case is on the factory floor cutting cables and prying open coal furnaces. Where Hawk comes into the picture is on their pocket clip as well as the locking mechanism. Hawks locking mechanisms have been hit or miss for me especially with their recent collaboration with Buck Knives with the Marksman. With the Marksman, the locking mechanism felt like setting a bear trap. With the constant worry of losing a digit while using the Marksman, I am happy to say that the Guppy is a more traditional design which I welcome with open arms. The sliding button on the handle makes for a very pleasant opening and closing action. The feel is almost reminiscent of the Shark Lock from Demko but with a more distinguished feel. This piece also comes in at 6.7 inches in total length which makes for a great piece that can conform to your life more easily. The smaller footprint paired with the titanium frame makes this a piece that you will forget is in your pocket until you need it. Serge has hit it out of the park with the Guppy and will make for a brilliant addition to any serious aficionado's collection.
