INTRODUCING: RIVERY MFG ZERO-G

One of the new kids on the block for the knife and EDC community is Rivery Manufacturing. What started as a Kickstarter campaign has turned into one of the hottest and most affordable knives on the market. I say knife but it really is a box cutter or utility knife with a more refined finish. Their claim to fame is their auto retract mechanism. Their system is screwless and all held together by their springs and keys parts that all perfectly work together to make the ultimate utility knife / fidget accessory. The Zero was their first model with a smaller footprint. Their collaboration with CadLab spawned the ridged design seen in their flagship model as well as this model we have today. What made the Zero so fantastic for collectors is the infinite possibilities for color ways. The sheer amount of variety to choose from and the low price has made a perfect storm for completionist collectors who want to collect every piece they come out with. With much success from the Zero, the Zero-G follows with a longer body as well as the introduction of their zero-profile (pun intended) pocket clip. The pocket clip was the only thing really missing from the original model and knowing Rivery, they weren't just going to haphazardly bolt a pocket clip to their existing model. They instead came up with a hinge system that is reminiscent of cars with door handles that disappear into the body. When you press on the far end of the pocket clip, it hinges up and reveals itself. Instead of having your utility knife rattling in your pocket getting banged up against whatever change and other undesirables you have, the pocket clip keeps the Zero-G right where you want it for whenever you need it. I enjoy the Zero-G's form factor more than the original Zero. Though I thought the Zero was intriguing, I never really felt the urge to add it to my personal EDC. The added use of the Pocket Clip as well as the wider lanyard hole makes me more apt to add the Zero-G to my personal rotation and you should too.
