HANDS ON: SHARP BY DESIGN TYPHOON 10
Share
I have only had one other experience with a Sharp by Design piece and that was their classic Arch Nemesis. Those things are just about as hard to find as the Ring of Power, but then again, so are all of their knives. I was lucky enough to get my knife loving hands on this Typhoon 10. This specific example has Burl Micarta Inlays in the handle scales as well as a slotted M390 blade. One of the things I love about this knife's design is its elegant and streamlined look. The sloped nose of the blade gently swoops up and down into a shape that reminds me of a wave coming into the shore. There really aren't any harsh lines on this piece. Even the slot on the blade has a beveled edge that still makes the design look soft and aerodynamic. The Handle has a smooth hand feel that feels sturdy and sophisticated. The unique ability to have an inlay bring more personality to the piece is always welcome. With this Typhoon, we have a Burl Micarta Inlay that has exquisite amounts of minute details that you can get lost in. The geometric shapes and textures almost look like a piece of ancient textile that's been lacquered and placed into the handle. Another design element of note are the pivot screws. The T10 has ceramic ball thrust bearings that look like they are almost naturally occurring to the handle scales, like they grew them themselves. The best way I can describe the Typhoon is that it looks like a living breathing thing. It has an almost aquatic feel to it like a predator that roams the open ocean. If you're a collector looking to have something truly special with unparalleled quality, the Typhoon 10 is for you.
