HANDS ON: EMERSON KNIVES 1776
Share
With the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States, we are sure to see many representations of patriotism throughout the world of knives. One representation of the upcoming trend has come in the form of this piece from Emerson Knives. The last thing I want to see is something that is too tacky with vibrant American Flags across the scale and blade. Emerson has taken the more subtle approach with their use of the 1776 in the original scrawl that would've been seen in the Constitution. Emerson Knives have had a longstanding association with patriotism within their brand voice. Emerson details this connection on their website saying "The company's founder can trace their roots directly back to Isa Emerson, a Massachusetts Minuteman who fought for the British at the Battle of Lexington and Concord on April 19th, 1775. Isa Enlisted under the command of Captain John Minott's and fought bravely for American independence until the surrender of General Cornwallis at Yorktown on October 19th, 1781." The staunchly American knife maker has made their country proud with their representation of craftmanship and detail work that has made American products stand out from the rest.

Starting at the handle of the 1776, it is made from this tan colored G-10 material with almost a woven texture that lends to a superior grip. Coming in at 4.7 ounces overall leads us to believe that the vast majority of the weight comes from the V-Ground Magnacut blade. Leaving no stone unturned, the original maker of the Magnacut blade also comes from America. The upswept blade shape also gives the knife a more vintage and classic look that would fit right in on the American soldiers fighting the British. Their unique thumb stud that is screwed in the spine of blade makes for easy opening for both right and left hand individuals. Adding our own detail to this piece, Tombstone added a copper bullet bead to help pay homage to the fighters of our American past. Emerson are proud to say that this knife encapsulates their love for America and craftsmanship.
