HANDS ON: AUXILARY MFG POCKET BOWIE CUSTOM
Finding an easily pocketable fixed blade can be challenging. They are out there for sure but none have as much style and pizzaz as the Auxilary MFG Pocket Bowie. Just today I was handling a Al Mar Warrior fixed blade which measures in at in total length. On the opposite end of the spectrum lies the Pocket Bowie at 6.25" with a 2.75" blade. Paired with the kydex sheath with wire clip, it is a perfect pairing for the EDC set up.
The 2.75" Blade is made from the reputable AEB-L stainless steel and finished in this dark wash finish. AEB-L is a fine-grained stainless steel which is known for its fantastic edge retention and corrosion resistance. Living in Florida, I need all the corrosion resistance that any steel can muster. The blade width also measures in a .190" thick which is quite substantial considering its small footprint. In a fixed blade, you do want the strongest backbone you can to tackle more taxing cutting tasks.
The real standout on this knife is the inclusion of the G-10 with fiberglass laminate handle scales in this intoxicating Tiffany Blue colorway. The material of fiberglass laminate seems like an unusual choice, but it is known for its incredible durability as well as its fantastic grip in wet conditions. It also features GripX inserts as well as natural liners for an added diversity in textures. The total weight of the knife comes in at just 4ox which isn't quite enough to disappear completely in the pocket, but you will quickly forget it is there until you need it.
